The FIVB and Volleyball World have announced the Netherlands as the host nation for the 2027 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships with three of the four host cities already announced as The Hague, Rotterdam and Apeldoorn.
The event features men’s and women’s play and will be the second time the country has hosted the event, the first coming in 2015. The Dutch National Federation (Nevobo) previously hosted the Volleyball Nations League and the FIVB Volleyball World Championships.
“The Netherlands’ approach to the World Championships goes beyond hosting a tournament, it’s about building a lasting legacy for beach volleyball across the entire country,” said Guido Betti, Volleyball World chief business officer. “We are seeing beach volleyball and its competitions growing rapidly, and the Netherlands’ approach is exactly what we want to see shaping the future of the sport.”
Brazil has dominated play since the event’s inception in 1997. The Brazilian men’s and women’s teams have combined for 35 medals at the event, including 13 gold. The United States is second on the list with a combined 18 medals and six gold. The 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships will take place in Adelaide, Australia, from November 14–23.
“The Beach Volleyball World Championships 2027 in the Netherlands marks both a comeback and a bold step forward, in line with the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032 aiming to strengthen the Global Volleyball Movement,” said FIVB President Fabio Azevedo. “We are confident this championship will set new standards for excellence, innovation, sustainability and community engagement, and we look forward to working with Nevobo and local partners to make it an unforgettable celebration, on and off the sand.”
