USA Bobsled/Skeleton CEO Aron McGuire Gets Contract Extension

The USA Bobsled/Skeleton Board of Directors approved a contract extension for CEO Aron McGuire that will keep him in the role through the 2030 Olympic Winter Games.

McGuire has been in the role since 2020. Prior to that he spent more than six years at the USOPC and nearly eight years at USA Track & Field.

“It is a privilege to lead this organization and work alongside our athletes, coaches, staff, board members, sponsors, partners, donors, and supporters,” McGuire wrote on LinkedIn. “The progress USABS has made over the past several years is truly a team effort. I’m proud of what we have accomplished together, but even more excited about what is ahead, including the 2029 IBSF World Championships in Park City and the 2030 Olympic Winter Games.”

At the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina, the U.S. brought home three medals in bobsled, including a gold by Elana Meyers Taylor in women’s monobob, a bronze by Kaillie Humphries in that same event, and a bronze by Humphries and Jasmine Jones in the two-woman event. Humphries had won gold in women’s monobob at the 2022 Olympics while Meyers Taylor took silver. In all the U.S. has won six Olympic medals during McGuire’s tenure, as well as seven IBSF World Championship medals and 53 ISBF World Cup medals.

McGuire has also developed and implemented a six-year strategic plan, grew revenue through increased commercial partnerships and sponsorships, launched an online merchandise store and refreshed its brand identity.

Among the initiatives McGuire helped oversee was a partnership with Raising Cane’s during the most recent Winter Olympics that included a flyer with a QR code for recruiting. “We’re hoping to leverage the next Olympian from Raising Cane’s,” he told SportsTravel publisher Jason Gewirtz in Italy. “You never know where they might come from.” The result, McGuire said at SportsTravel’s Road Trip event in Colorado Springs earlier this year, is that, “Our starting pool of athlets who come into the program is doubling in size.”

“Aron has provided steady and effective leadership during one of the most important periods in the history of USA Bobsled/Skeleton,” said Randy Aliment, Chair of the USA Bobsled/Skeleton Board of Directors. “He has helped strengthen the organization’s foundation and position USABS for continued success. The Board has confidence in Aron’s leadership, vision, and commitment to our athletes as we prepare for the 2030 Olympic Games and beyond.”

McGuire was a member of the USA Bobsled National Team from 2003-2006. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron, where he competed in the decathlon, and an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
