USA Lacrosse will welcome men’s and women’s teams from Canada and the Haudenosaunee Nation as part of the Atlas Cup in September in Maryland for a sixes tournament, the same format that will be used at the 2028 Olympic Summer Games in Los Angeles.
The Atlas Cup, scheduled for September 26–28, will be the first time thes three teams have competed in the same event in men’s and women’s sixes since The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama. Canada beat the United States in the gold medal game in both the men’s and women’s events at The World Games that year while the Haudenosaunee men finished fifth and the women finished seventh.
“There’s no better way to showcase the speed and excitement of the sixes format of the game than by bringing the best teams in the world together,” said Marc Riccio, chief executive officer of USA Lacrosse. “We’re honored to have these tremendous athletes and ambassadors coming to our headquarters for The Atlas Cup. This will be a tremendous platform to show the best that the sport has to offer as we continue on the path to the Olympics.”
In addition to the games, The Atlas Cup will have fan zones, merchandise, family activities, food trucks and entertainment throughout the weekend. USA Lacrosse members will have exclusive access to early-bird pricing for tickets via email.
