The World’s Strongest Man competition is going back to the beach.
The event is returning to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which had previously hosted it in both 2023 and 2024 before it moved to Sacramento, California, last year. It will take place this this spring from April 23-26 at the Oceanfront at Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place with qualifying rounds on Thursday and Friday and the final competitions the next two days. Seating will be general admission. More information about tickets as well as the complete roster of competitors and the event schedule will be released at a later date.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the World’s Strongest Man competition back to downtown Myrtle Beach for another exciting showcase of live sports action,” said Stuart Butler, President of Visit Myrtle Beach. “This world-class competition has exceeded our expectations each year we’ve hosted it, bringing in competitors and fans from across the globe and putting Myrtle Beach on the world stage. Our community has wholeheartedly embraced this event and we’re looking forward to the economic and recreational impact that it brings to our entire region.”
This will be the 49th edition of World’s Strongest Man, which was created in 1977 and has been held every year since except for 1987.
Canada’s Mitchell Hooper beat out Great Britain’s Tom Stoltman in 2023, while that order was reversed the next year. Rayno Nel of South Africa is the reigning champion. Nel, who won the competition in his debut season, is the first winner to come from the southern hemisphere. Martins Licis, in 2019, is the last U.S. competitor to win the event. All four of those men were among the initial group of 12 who have been announced as part of the field of competitors for Myrtle Beach.
