Capacity Sports Group has added the Champions Center Indoor Pavilion and Publix Fields to its growing portfolio of properties at LakePoint Sports, one of the nation’s premier youth sports destinations.
LakePoint Sports is located in Emerson, Georgia, about 40 miles northwest of Atlanta. Prep Baseball, which is part of Capacity Sports Group, has operated tournaments at LakePoint since 2019. As part of this new transaction, Capacity Sports Group now owns the 78-acre property comprising the Baseball Village and Publix Fields and holds a lease to operate the Champions Center.
There are three signature venues at LakePoint Sports: The Baseball Village, which features eight major league-sized synthetic turf fields; the Champions Center Indoor Pavilion, which accommodates 12 basketball courts or 24 volleyball courts; and Publix Fields, which provides three multiuse turf fields for sports including soccer, lacrosse and football.
CSG was officially formed in 2026 following the merger of Prep Baseball and Bullpen Ventures. Since its launch, Capacity has added Play9 Sports, United Sports, YSC Sports, Sideline Soccer Solutions and Flag Football Life. Those additions have expanded its capabilities across Midwest baseball and softball tournaments, Philadelphia-area multisport facilities, soccer events and flag football leagues and competitions.
While most of the venues that Capacity Sports Group oversees are based in the Midwest — seven of its 12 facilities are in Indiana, Kansas and Wisconsin — it also has venues in the Northeast and the South and is planning to add spots in Virginia and Texas.
It’s fueled in part by the continued growth of youth sports across the country, particularly in what Ken Kocher, CEO of Capacity Sports Group, refers to as the “Power Six”: baseball, softball, flag football, lacrosse, soccer and volleyball. Those sports are all growing in popularity and can all be housed at a single multi-use facility.
All of which means the company is far from finished with his acquisition plans. In fact, Kocher expects 2027 to be an even bigger year for transactions than 2026 has been.
“We’re going to see at lest one, two or three transactions in each sport,” he said. “We’re not trying to capture the world, we’re trying to find really big operators that are specific through a town or area and go in and develop a business, and sometimes it’s easier to buy the best operator in that area. We’re going to focus on organically growing our brands and bringing them to our complexes and other complexes that we’re working with too.”
The benefit of the LakePoint site for CSG is being able to operate year-round. Asked how often he expects the facility to be in use, Kocher said, “Every weekend. Unless there’s bad weather, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be able to utilize most of the fields every single weekend, not only for tournaments but for leagues, renting to clubs and so forth.”
