Atlantic City to Host 2024 USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships

Atlantic City, New Jersey, will host the 2024 USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships, the national governing body’s largest annual national championship event.

The event is scheduled for September 13–15, 2024, and includes short-course amateur adult triathletes racing for age group national titles. USA Triathlon’s longest-running annual event, the championships typically attract more than 6,000 athletes.

“We’re excited to partner with Atlantic City to create a can’t-miss racing experience in 2024 at USA Triathlon Nationals,” said Victoria Brumfield, USA Triathlon chief executive officer. “USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships has long been USA Triathlon’s marquee event where the nation’s most dedicated Sprint and Olympic-distance triathletes not only compete for age group national titles, but also come together to celebrate the multisport community.”

Athletes qualify for nationals by placing in the top two or top 15% of their age group at a USA Triathlon sanctioned race. Athletes can also earn qualification by racing at a USA Triathlon state championship and finishing top five or top 35% in an athlete’s age group.

The competition begins September 13 with the Open Water Swim, which does not require qualification. On Saturday, September 14, athletes will race in the qualification-based Olympic-Distance National Championships, which features a 1,500m swim, 40km bike ride and 10k run. Sunday, September 15, features the qualification-based Sprint National Championships, with a 750m swim, 20k bike ride and 5k run course.

USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships also includes the Clydesdale and Athena National Championships. USA Triathlon has partnered with DelMoSports to support production of the event. The 2024 CRDA Atlantic City Triathlon on August 3, 2024, will be designated as the official training race of USA Triathlon Nationals.
