Blast, the world’s largest organizer of esports events, has opened its host destination process for 2027 and 2028, the organization has announced. An expression of interest must be submitted by February 13, while bid submission deadlines set for March 16 to host a 2027 event and July 3 to do so in 2028. The company expects more than 700,00 fans to attend its events in those two years, with 70% coming from outside the host city.
In 2025, Blast delivered 15 arena shows across 10 countries — including the U.S., UK and Brazil — as well as its first arena event in mainland China. Overall it sold more than 190,000 tickets and its events were watched for nearly 300 million hours. The company is projecting to sell 250,000 plus tickets this year.
The competitive process includes live arena events across Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Fortnite, Rocket League, Rainbow Six and Brawl Stars. In 2027 and 2028 the company expects to deliver a minimum of 40 live arena events around the world
On average over 70% of fans travel from outside the city and spend more than $200 each day. Blast events are viewed by more than 100 million people. Last year’s BLAST.tv Austin Major in Austin, Texas, generated more than $100 million in economic impact, according to a report from Angelou Economics with fans attending from all 50 states as well as 37 countries.
“We consistently return to and repeat partnerships with host cities, which demonstrates the value of our model and our commitment to sustainable, multi-year, deep collaborations,” said James Woollard, the company’s vice president, destinations and market development.
