The Erie Sports Commission has announced the hiring of Sydney Dietz as the organization’s events and marketing manager, tasking her with overseeing the marketing and brand image of the organization.
“We are extremely happy to have Sydney as a member of our team as our new events and marketing manager,” said Mark Jeanneret, executive director of the Erie Sports Commission. “Sydney’s unique skillset made her an ideal candidate and I am looking forward to working with her as she grows into the position. I am confident that she will help our organization continue to experience success and positively impact Erie County.”
Raised in Erie, Dietz will be responsible for assisting in attracting and servicing events supported by the commission, aiding the efforts of Event Services Director Ben Huggler. While attending Mercyhurst, Dietz served as the sports editor for the student newspaper.
“I’m excited to start working with the Erie Sports Commission alongside Mark and Ben,” Dietz said. “Erie is a terrific destination and I love having the opportunity to showcase my hometown to others. I can’t wait to continue my journey by growing the sports community in Erie.”
Most recently, Dietz worked as an intern for the Disney Co. as a part of Disney Photo Imaging. In 2022, Dietz was a strategic marketing intern in the Mayor’s Office where she helped plan and promote local events such as CelebrateErie and the 814 Concert Series. In addition, Dietz plays an active role in the sports community by working game nights for the Erie SeaWolves of Double-A Eastern League and the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League.
