For the past eight years, Sands has served as executive director for the Fort Worth Sports Commission and vice president of sports for the Fort Worth CVB, helping bring to the community events that included the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics National Championship (2019–2025), NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament (2022), USA Wrestling Olympic Team Trials (2021) and others.
In his new role role, Sands will lead new business opportunities for the KemperSports Venues division with 20 properties under management and four properties currently under development or renovation.
“I am thrilled to join the team at KemperSports,” said Sands. “Their reputation within the sports and hospitality industries is incredible and I’m excited to support the company’s explosive growth.”
Sands’ sports tourism business led to $770 million in estimated economic impact to the city of Fort Worth over his eight years.
