The Savannah Sports Council in Georgia has named Marissa Guarneiri as its new events manager.
Guarneiri joins the organization after serving as the director of volunteers and special projects at Chattanooga Sports in Tennessee. Guarneiri will serve as race director of the Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run and the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon. Additionally, she will manage the Enmarket Savannah Hockey Classic and the Georgia Power Sports Awards in addition to numerous other events hosted in Savannah.
Guarneiri graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in sports management and started her career at Chattanooga Sports as an event manager in 2019. She had direct oversight of the Chattanooga Marathon and the TSSAA BlueCross Bowl State Football Championships. Additionally, she oversaw numerous outdoor events including the Ironman 70.3 & 140.6 and the Head of the Hooch rowing regatta.
Before joining Chattanooga Sports, Guarneiri worked for Operation Get Active, a Chattanooga nonprofit organization that uses soccer to teach kids active and healthy lifestyles.
“I’m thrilled to have Marissa join our team,” Savannah Sports Council Director Rob Wells said. “Her experience managing the Chattanooga Marathon and Tennessee High School Football State Championships is impressive and we look forward to the new ideas she will bring to the Savannah Sports Council.”
