The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol and Soccer United Marketing have announced the 20th edition of the MexTour in the U.S. will kick off on June 10 when the Mexican Men’s National Team takes on 2022 World Cup qualifier Cameroon at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.
Mexico and Cameroon have met twice previously, with Mexico winning both matches. The last time the teams played was in the group stage of the 2014 World Cup, with Mexico prevailing 1-0.
Mexican Coach Diego Cocca, who will lead Mexico in his first MexTour match, will use the opportunity to fine-tune his squad ahead of the 2023 Concacaf Nations League Finals and 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup tournaments this summer.
This MexTour match will mark Mexico’s debut at San Diego’s Snapdragon Stadium, which opened in August 2022 with a seating capacity of approximately 35,000. Mexico last played in San Diego on March 22, 2019, at Qualcomm Stadium, defeating Chile 3-1 in front of nearly 50,000 fans.
Tickets for the match will go on sale on May 8 at 10 a.m. PT. Additional MexTour matches will be announced at a later date.
