San Diego has been selected as the location for the New Zealand Men’s National Soccer Team’s official team base camp training site during the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
New Zealand Football has confirmed that the All Whites will train at the University of San Diego’s Torero Stadium and stay at a team hotel close to the training ground.
Located on the campus of the University of San Diego, Torero Stadium opened in 1961 and is now the home of the San Diego Toreros football and men’s and women’s soccer teams.
“Selecting our base camp is a really important part of our preparation for the tournament so we can make sure the team is in the best place possible on and off the pitch,” said All Whites Head Coach Darren Bazeley said. “San Diego offers a great combination of the criteria we were looking for, from a really high-quality training pitch at Torero Stadium, to an ideal hotel for the team. We look forward to working with the city over the next few months to really get to know the place and hope to have all 1.4 million San Diegans taking us on as their second team.”
New Zealand will compete in Group G at this summer’s tournament, with a first match scheduled to take place in Inglewood, California, against Iran on June 15. It will play its other two group matches in Vancouver, Canada, against Egypt on June 21 and Belgium on June 26.
The All Whites had already been confirmed to play a warm-up international friendly match against England in South Florida on June 6. A second warm-up fixture, likely also in the United States, is currently being explored.
