The Paraguayan Men’s National Soccer Team will utilize the Spartan Soccer Complex facilities at San José State University in San José, California, for its team base camp training site during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The complex, which opened before the 2017 season, is home to both the men’s and women’s Spartan soccer teams, and has also been used for MLS training sessions and the Mountain West Women’s Soccer Tournament.
It is also located close to the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in Santa Clara, which will be the venue for two of Paraguay’s group-stage matches in June.
“We are honored to welcome the Paraguay National Team to San José State University as their official Team Base Camp for the FIFA World Cup 2026,” said SJSU President Cynthia Teniente-Matson. “This historic partnership reflects the strength of our facilities, our commitment to excellence, and the vibrant, global spirit of Silicon Valley. Hosting La Albirroja on our campus is not only a proud moment for Spartan Athletics, but also an extraordinary opportunity to unite our students, alumni, and community around the world’s game.”
SJSU secured the partnership in collaboration with the Bay Area Host Committee (SJ26) and the City of San José.
“We are honored to welcome Team Paraguay to San José State,” said SJSU Director of Athletics Jeff Konya. “Our world-class facilities are designed to support elite athletes at the highest level, and we are thrilled to play a pivotal role in the FIFA World Cup 2026 experience. This is a monumental opportunity to showcase our campus and the vibrant, diverse community of San José to a global audience.”
Gustavo Alfaro’s men will compete in Group D at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, opening up against the U.S. Men’s National Team on June 12 in Los Angeles / Inglewood. The team will then head to San Francisco Bay Area to play Türkiye on June 19, before concluding its group-stage campaign against Australia at the same venue on June 25.
