West Monroe to Host 2024 U.S. Table Tennis Olympic Trials

The 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials for table tennis and the U.S. Junior National Table Tennis Team Trials will be held March 19–31, 2024, at West Monroe Sports and Events in Louisiana.

Discover Monroe, the city of West Monroe and West Monroe Sports and Events Center will host over 100 players aiming for spots on Team USA for the 2024 Olympic Summer Games in Paris. The U.S. Junior National Team Trials will attract over 250 youth players from across the country to battle for national team status.

“We are thrilled to host a new event of Olympic level competition,” said Alana Cooper, Discover Monroe-West Monroe president and chief executive officer. “The U.S. Table Tennis Olympic Trials and the U.S. Junior National Table Tennis Team Trials will bring students and professional athletes from throughout the U.S. to compete.

“The opportunity to have the national and international spotlight on West Monroe and the surrounding area for sports competitions is a huge win for our communities. We expect visitors and viewership of the competition to reach throughout the world. This event helps to provide for the table tennis sports program development along with economic impact to our parish. We are looking forward to showcasing our local hospitality to USA Table Tennis.”

Discover Monroe-West Monroe Executive Vice President Scott Bruscato met with USA Table Tennis at the TEAMS Conference & Expo in The Palm Beaches in October. West Monroe Sports and Events Center is a 110,000 square foot facility which features eight basketball courts or 16 volleyball courts, onsite concessions, meeting rooms and more.

“Hosting an Olympic Trial at West Monroe Sports and Events is an amazing opportunity to showcase our new facility to the United States and the world,” Bruscato said. “We look forward to welcoming Olympic athletes, USA Table Tennis staff, U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee members to northeast Louisiana. We know they will appreciate the southern hospitality they will receive here.”
