Security at sports events has never been a more important topic. And now an industry consultant and a technology company are pairing up to collect data for a survey they hope will benchmark how event organizers are approaching the topic and what practices are serving the industry best.
Peter Ashwin, the principal at Event Risk Management Solutions (ERMS), and Blerter, a New Zealand-based technology company, are launching the joint initiative. In a survey, they are seeking responses from event organizers that they hope will measure the festival and event industry’s current practices on preparedness, resilience, security and risk management. The survey’s goal is to gain deeper insight into the industry’s capability, preparedness and resilience to manage uncertainty and adverse events.
The survey contains two parts with the first part taking an estimated five minutes to complete and the second part about eight minutes. All responses remain anonymous and the data from the survey will only be reported in the aggregate. Results of the survey will be published in late October or early November 2019. Survey participants will have the option to sign up for a personal copy of the report, which will also be available for download on ERMS’ and Blerter’s websites.
