The Prince William County (Virginia) Office of Tourism has named Michael Rojas to the new position of sports tourism manager. The newly created position is designed to bolster the goal of expanding the county’s sports tourism program and capitalize on opportunities provided by the merger two years ago of the county’s tourism function into the county’s Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism.

Rojas is a U.S. Navy veteran who previously worked for the Lubbock Texas Sports Authority, Tyler Technologies and IBM. He has a bachelor’s degree in exercise/sport psychology from Lubbock Christian University and a master’s degree in sport management from Texas Tech University.

Prince William County is located less than 30 miles southwest from Washington, D.C. In 2020, the area will host the Prince William Half Marathon and the 2020 USA BMX East Coast Regionals in addition to several soccer, baseball, hockey, and other athletic events.
