The Big West Conference has announced that Ontario (California) International Airport is now the “Official Airport of The Big West.”
“We’re pleased to welcome Ontario International Airport to the Big West family,” Big West Commissioner Dan Butterly said. “Ontario International is perfectly positioned in the heart of Big West country. Just a short drive from many of the cities and campuses we call home.”
Ontario International is the fastest-growing airport in the United States and is one of the few airports in the world that has exceeded pre-pandemic passenger levels for each of the past four months. Factoring in commute times, nearly 10 million Southern Californians live or work closer to it than any other airport.
As the Official Airport of the Big West, Ontario International Airport will receive marketing exposure year-round on Big West digital and social platforms, including assets at the 2023 Hercules Tires Big West Basketball Championships presented by The Hawaiian Islands at The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nevada, March 7–11, 2023.
“We are proud to enter into this partnership with The Big West and the great universities that embody its ‘Only the Bold’ spirit of empowerment and opportunity,” said Atif Elkadi, ONT’s chief executive officer. “As the airport of choice for millions of Southern Californians, we look forward to introducing Big West student-athletes and fans to a customer experience they won’t find anywhere else.”
The Big West is an NCAA Division I conference with 11 member schools — 10 of which are located in California, with Hawaii being the outlier.
