The GFNY Global Endurance Sports Series is a sports event company that hosts multiple events throughout the year around the world on five continents. “Gran Fondo” is the Italian term for “big challenge” and stems from skiing, swimming and cycling endurance races that started in the 1950s.
“Rockford’s support of GFNY, whether government or local residents, has been incredible from the get-go,” says GFNY Co-Founder Lidia Fluhme. “It’s been our goal for 2022 to expand GFNY across the U.S. and we’re fortunate to be welcomed so warmly by cities like Rockford. Our riders will love the race and their stay.”
Rockford is the second largest city in Illinois, located one hour from Chicago. Rock River is the main natural attraction of the city and runs through the heart and traditional center of Rockford. The city is connected by different bridges, bike paths, and has beautiful parks to visit such as Searls Park and Anna Page Forest Preserve.
